The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,498,600 with the global confirmed cases reaching 112,600,845 as of 7:30 pm BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 7:30 pm BJT, Feb 25):

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 505,890 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 28,336,091.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 11,046,914. The death toll grew to 156,705.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,324,463. The death toll grew to 249,957.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 4,164,802 with 83,481 deaths.

It is followed by UK with 4,156,703 and 121,979 deaths, France with 3,721,063 infections and 85,473 deaths, Spain with 3,170,644 cases and 68,468 deaths, Italy with 2,848,564 cases and 96,666 deaths and Turkey with 2,665,194 cases and 28,285 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,417,683 with 69,170 deaths.
