The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,318,388 with the global confirmed cases reaching 106,206,994 as of 6:30 pm BJT on Monday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 6:30 pm BJT, Feb. 8):

Russia registered 15,916 COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the first time since Oct. 22 that the daily increase was below 16,000, the country's COVID-19 response center said Monday.

India's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,838,194 on Monday even as 11,831 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry. According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 155,080 as 84 COVID-19 patients died since Sunday morning.

The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 8,242 within one day to 1,166,079, with the death toll adding by 207 to 31,763, the health ministry said on Monday. According to the ministry, 13,038 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 963,028.

The Department of Health (DOH) of the Philippines reported on Monday 1,690 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the country's total tally to 538,995.

Mongolia registered 50 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, raising its national tally to 2,073, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Monday.
