The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,038,477 with the global confirmed cases reaching 95,475,781 as of 9:00 am BJT on Tuesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 9:00 am BJT, Jan 19):

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 398,879 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 24,062,465, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 9:00 am BJT on Tuesday.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,571,773. The death toll grew to 152,419.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 8,488,099. The death toll grew to 209,847.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 3,552,888 with 65,059 deaths.

It is followed by UK with 3,443,321 infections and 90,030 deaths, France with 2,972,889 infections and 70,826 deaths, Turkey with 2,392,963 cases and 24,161 deaths, Italy with 2,390,102 cases and 82,554 deaths and Spain with 2,336,451 cases and 53,769 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,059,382 with 47,263 deaths.
