The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,054,270 with the global confirmed cases reaching 96,103,144 as of 9:22 am BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 401,362 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 24,233,759.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,581,823. The death toll grew to 152,556.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 8,573,864. The death toll grew to 211,491.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 3,574,330 with 65,632 deaths.

It is followed by United Kingdom with 3,476,802 infections and 91,643 deaths, France with 2,996,784 infections and 71,482 deaths, Italy with 2,400,598 cases and 83,157 deaths, Turkey with 2,399,781 cases and 24,328 deaths and Spain with 2,370,742 cases and 54,173 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,071,615 with 48,433 deaths.
