The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,138,299 with the global confirmed cases reaching 99,660,483 as of 9:22 am BJT on Tuesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 420,873 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 25,261,902.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,667,736. The death toll grew to 153,470.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 8,871,393. The death toll grew to 217,664.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 3,698,246 with 68,841 deaths.

It is followed by United Kingdom with 3,680,101 infections and 98,723 deaths, France with 3,116,355 infections and 73,636 deaths, Spain with 2,593,382 cases and 56,208 deaths, Italy with 2,475,372 cases and 85,881 deaths and Turkey with 2,435,247 cases and 25,210 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,154,656 with 52,626 deaths.
