The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,154,967 with the global confirmed cases reaching 100,216,403 as of 9:22 am BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 425,038 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 25,434,766.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,676,838. The death toll grew to 153,587.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 8,933,356. The death toll grew to 218,878.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 3,716,228 with 69,391 deaths.

It is followed by United Kingdom with 3,700,268 infections and 100,359 deaths, France with 3,138,498 infections and 74,250 deaths, Spain with 2,629,817 cases and 56,794 deaths, Italy with 2,485,956 cases and 86,422 deaths and Turkey with 2,442,350 cases and 25,344 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,164,043 with 53,619 deaths.
