The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 1,837,138 with the global confirmed cases reaching 84,642,411 as of 6:30 pm BJT on Sunday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

US COVID-19 deaths surpassed 350,000 on Saturday evening, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University. With the national case count topping 20.4 million, the death toll across the United States rose to 350,186 as of 11:22 pm local time (0422 GMT Sunday).
India's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,323,965 on Sunday as 18,177 more cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry. The Drugs Controller General of India on Sunday gave its approval to two vaccines for emergency use.
Thailand on Sunday confirmed 315 new cases of COVID-19, mostly domestic infections, according to the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA). The new cases included 294 local infections while 21 others were those in quarantine upon arrival from abroad, CCSA spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin told a daily news briefing.
The Department of Health of the Philippines reported 891 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number in the country to 477,807.
Brunei reported 15 new imported cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the national tally to 172. According to Brunei's Ministry of Health, all these new cases are part of a group of 81 people who arrived in Brunei on Dec. 21, 2020 from London, Britain.
