The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 4,065,400 with the global confirmed cases reaching 188,843,580 as of 9:00 am BJT on Friday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 9:00 am BJT, July 16):

The outbreak has now claimed 608,384 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 33,973,919 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 30,987,880 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 411,989.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 19,262,518 with 538,942 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,895,437 confirmed cases and 111,619 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 143,657 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 5,810,335.

Turkey has confirmed 5,507,455 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 50,415.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 5,300,971, with the number of deaths at 128,862, according to the JHU virus tracker.

It is followed by Argentina with 100,695 deaths from 4,719,952 infections.

Colombiahas reported 4,583,442 COVID-19 cases and 114,833 deaths from the virus so far.

A total of 4,278,319 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 127,840.
