The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 4,104,937 with the global confirmed cases reaching 191,358,882 as of 9:00 am BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 609,508 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 34,172,290 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 31,174,322 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 414,482.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 19,419,437 with 544,180 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,952,303 confirmed cases and 111,715 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 147,457 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 5,931,925.

Turkey has confirmed 5,546,166 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 50,650.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 5,542,326, with the number of deaths at 129,103, according to the JHU virus tracker.

It is followed by Argentina with 102,381 deaths from 4,784,219 infections.

Colombia has reported 4,668,750 COVID-19 cases and 117,131 deaths from the virus so far.

A total of 4,293,083 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 127,884.
