Globally, as of 3:49 pm CEST on Tuesday, there have been 14,562,550 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 607,781 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 142,068 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 3,902,135, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 4:34 pm BJT on Wednesday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 2,159,654. The death toll grew to 81,487.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 1,193,078. The death toll grew to 28,732.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 787,846 with 12,722 deaths.

It is followed by South Africa with 381,798 infections and 5,368 deaths, Peru with 362,087 infections and 13,579 deaths, Mexico with 356,255 cases and 40,400 deaths and Chile with 334,683 cases and 8,677 deaths.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 297,389, with the number of deaths at 45,507, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iran have increased to 278,827 with 14,634 deaths.
