The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 4,134,497 with the global confirmed cases reaching 192,475,783 as of 9:00 am BJT on Friday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 610,264 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 34,275,134 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 31,257,720 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 418,987.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 19,523,711 with 547,016 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,996,021 confirmed cases and 111,748 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 149,012 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 5,979,027.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 5,626,055, with the number of deaths at 129,266, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Turkey has confirmed 5,563,903 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 50,761.

It is followed by Argentina with 103,074 deaths from 4,812,351 infections.

Colombia has reported 4,692,570 COVID-19 cases and 117,836 deaths from the virus so far.

A total of 4,302,393 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 127,920.
