Globally, as of 7:24 pm CEST on Monday, there have been 16,114,449 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 646,641 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 148,009 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 4,287,974, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 9:35 pm BJT on Tuesday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 2,442,375. The death toll grew to 87,618.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 1,435,453. The death toll grew to 32,771.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 816,680 with 13,334 deaths.

It is followed by South Africa with 452,529 infections and 7,067 deaths, Mexico with 395,489 infections and 44,022 deaths, Peru with 375,961 cases and 17,843 deaths and Chile with 347,923 cases and 9,187 deaths.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 301,706, with the number of deaths at 45,844, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iran have increased to 293,606 with 15,912 deaths.
