Globally, as of 6 pm BJT on Tuesday, there have been 16,301,736 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 650,069 deaths, reported the World Health Organization.

The outbreak has now claimed 150,478 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 4,392,216 infections, according to a tally by the 1Point3Acres virus tracker as of 6 pm BJT on Tuesday.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 2,442,375 with 87,618 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

India has confirmed a total of 1,480,073 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 33,408.

Russia has confirmed 822,060 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 13,483.

South Africa has recorded 452,529 confirmed cases and 7,067 deaths.

It is followed by Mexico with 44,022 deaths from 395,489 infections.

Peru has reported 389,717 COVID-19 cases and 18,418 deaths from the virus so far.

A total of 347,923 people in Chile have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 9,187.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 301,708, with the number of deaths at 45,844, according to the JHU virus tracker.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 15,912 lives in Iran, bringing the total number of infections to 293,606.
