Globally, as of 4:52 pm CEST on Tuesday, there have been 16,341,920 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 650,805 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 149,209 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 4,347,717, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 8:35 pm BJT on Wednesday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 2,483,191. The death toll grew to 88,539.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 1,483,156. The death toll grew to 33,425.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 822,060 with 13,483 deaths.

It is followed by South Africa with 459,761 infections and 7,257 deaths, Mexico with 402,697 infections and 44,876 deaths, Peru with 389,717 cases and 18,418 deaths and Chile with 349,800 cases and 9,240 deaths.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 302,293, with the number of deaths at 45,963, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iran have increased to 296,273 with 16,147 deaths.
