Globally, as of 6:03 pm CEST on Thursday, there have been 16,812,755 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 662,095 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 151,834 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 4,487,987, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 8:35 pm BJT on Friday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 2,610,102. The death toll grew to 91,263.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 1,582,028. The death toll grew to 34,956.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 832,993 with 13,778 deaths.

It is followed by South Africa with 482,169 infections and 7,812 deaths, Mexico with 408,449 infections and 45,361 deaths, Peru with 400,683 cases and 18,816 deaths and Chile with 353,536 cases and 9,377 deaths.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 303,910, with the number of deaths at 46,084, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iran have increased to 301,530 with 16,147 deaths.
