Globally, as of 7:58 am CEST on Wednesday, there have been 11,591,595 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 537,859 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 131,480 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 2,996,098, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 4:34 pm BJT on Wednesday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 1,668,589. The death toll grew to 66,741.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 742,417. The death toll grew to 20,642.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 699,749 with 10,650 deaths.

It is followed by Peru with 309,278 infections and 10,952 deaths and Chile with 301,019 cases and 6,434 deaths.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 287,880, with the number of deaths at 44,476, according to the JHU virus tracker.

It is followed by Mexico with 268,008 cases and 32,014 deaths, Spain with 252,130 cases and 28,392 deaths and Iran with 245,688 cases and 11,931 deaths.
