The latest: COVID-19 outbreak worldwide (Updated June 1)

The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,550,383 with the global confirmed cases reaching 170,731,897 as of 5:30 pm BJT on Tuesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 5:30 pm BJT, June 1):

The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday 5,177 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the tally in the Southeast Asian country to 1,235,467.

South Korea reported 459 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Monday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 140,799.

Cambodia's COVID-19 cases has surged to 30,710 last Tuesday after 616 fresh infection cases were reported nationwide in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

Ethiopia registered 196 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 271,541 as of Monday evening, according to the country's Ministry of Health.

The Australian state of Victoria went into the fifth day of its lockdown on Tuesday with the number COVID-19 cases in the latest outbreak having risen to 54.
