Globally, as of 6:30 pm BJT on Tuesday, there have been 8,974,795 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 469,159 deaths, reported the World Health Organization.

The outbreak has now claimed 122,301 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 2,364,223 infections, according to a tally by the 1Point3Acres virus tracker as of 6:30 pm BJT on Tuesday.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 1,106,470 with 51,271 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

Russia has confirmed 598,878 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 8,349.

India has confirmed a total of 440,215 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 14,011.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 306,761, with the number of deaths at 42,731, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Peru has reported 257,447 COVID-19 cases and 8,223 deaths from the virus so far.

A total of 246,963 people in Chile have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 4,502.

Spain has recorded 246,504 confirmed cases and 28,323 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 34,657 lives in Italy, bringing the total number of infections to 238,720.

It is followed by Iran with 9,623 deaths from 207,525 infections.
