Globally, as of 6:30 pm BJT on Wednesday, there have been 9,071,475 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 472,075 deaths, reported the World Health Organization.

The outbreak has now claimed 123,155 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 2,399,685 infections, according to a tally by the 1Point3Acres virus tracker as of 6:30 pm BJT on Wednesday.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 1,145,906 with 52,645 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

Russia has confirmed 606,043 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 8,503.

India has confirmed a total of 456,183 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 14,476.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 307,682, with the number of deaths at 43,011, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Peru has reported 260,810 COVID-19 cases and 8,404 deaths from the virus so far.

A total of 250,767 people in Chile have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 4,505.

Spain has recorded 246,752 confirmed cases and 28,325 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 34,675 lives in Italy, bringing the total number of infections to 238,883.

It is followed by Iran with 9,863 deaths from 209,970 infections.
