Globally, as of 6:30 pm BJT on Friday, there have been 9,413,289 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 482,730 deaths, reported the World Health Organization.

The outbreak has now claimed 126,441 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 2,476,396 infections, according to a tally by the 1Point3Acres virus tracker as of 6:30 pm BJT on Friday.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 1,228,114 with 54,971 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

Russia has confirmed 619,936 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 8,770.

India has confirmed a total of 490,401 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 15,301.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 309,455, with the number of deaths at 43,314, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Peru has reported 268,602 COVID-19 cases and 8,761 deaths from the virus so far.

A total of 259,064 people in Chile have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 4,903.

Spain has recorded 247,486 confirmed cases and 28,330 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 34,678 lives in Italy, bringing the total number of infections to 239,706.

It is followed by Iran with 10,239 deaths from 217,724 infections.
