The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,687,575 with the global confirmed cases reaching 171,521,036 as of 10:30 am BJT on Thursday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 595,822 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 33,306,910 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 28,307,832 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 335,102.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 16,720,081 with 467,706 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,739,991 confirmed cases and 109,841 deaths.

Turkey has confirmed 5,263,697 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 47,768.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 120,217 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 5,031,583.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,510,596, with the number of deaths at 128,057, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 4,223,200 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 126,283.

Argentina has reported 3,852,156 COVID-19 cases and 79,320 deaths from the virus so far.

It is followed by Germany with 88,852 deaths from 3,698,004 infections.
