The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,697,399 with the global confirmed cases reaching 171,969,680 as of 9:30 am BJT on Friday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 596,395 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 33,325,510 infections.
India has confirmed a total of 28,441,986 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 337,989.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 16,803,472 with 469,388 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.
France has recorded 5,755,549 confirmed cases and 109,990 deaths.
Turkey has confirmed 5,270,299 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 47,882.
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 120,604 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 5,040,390.
The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,515,777, with the number of deaths at 128,075, according to the JHU virus tracker.
A total of 4,225,163 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 126,342.
Argentina has reported 3,884,447 COVID-19 cases and 79,873 deaths from the virus so far.
It is followed by Germany with 88,965 deaths from 3,701,692 infections.
