The latest: COVID-19 outbreak worldwide (Updated June 5)

The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,713,468 with the global confirmed cases reaching 172,621,623 as of 7:00 pm BJT on Saturday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 7:00 pm BJT, June 5):

The outbreak has now claimed 597,001 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 33,346,366 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 27,729,247 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 344,082.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 16,841,408 with 470,842 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,762,637 confirmed cases and 110,078 deaths.

Turkey has confirmed 5,276,468 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 47,976.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 121,365 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 5,058,221.

The UK'sconfirmedcases have increased to 4,521,922, with the number of deaths at 128,086, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 4,227,719 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 126,415.

It is followed by Argentina with 80,411 deaths from 3,915,397 infections.

Germany has reported 3,707,380 COVID-19 cases and 89,153 deaths from the virus so far.
