The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,578,805 with the global confirmed cases reaching 116,025,351 as of 9:30 am BJT on Saturday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 522,610 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 28,886,897.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 11,173,761. The death toll grew to 157,548.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,869,227 The death toll grew to 262,770.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 4,252,876 with 86,821 deaths.

It is followed by UK with 4,219,784 infections and 124,495 deaths, France with 3,918,387 infections and 88,412 deaths, Spain with 3,149,012 cases and 71,138 deaths, Italy with 3,023,129 cases and 99,271 deaths and Turkey with 2,757,460 cases and 28,901 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,493,887 with 71,693 deaths.
