The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,610,863 with the global confirmed cases reaching 117,587,601 as of 5 pm BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 5 pm BJT, Mar 10):

India's COVID-19 tally rose to 11,262,707 on Wednesday as 17,921 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

Brazil on Tuesday saw record high daily COVID-19 deaths at 1,972 in 24 hours, bringing the national toll to 268,370.

Argentina registered 7,307 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the national tally to 2,162,001, the health ministry said.

A total of 3,976,492 COVID-19 cases have been reported on the African continent as of Tuesday evening, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said.

The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported on Wednesday 2,886 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the Southeast Asian country's total tally to 603,308.
