National authorities around the world reported 13,903 new coronavirus cases and 862 new deaths on Monday, according to statistics in the daily situation report by the The World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO said the global number of reported cases of COVID-19 rose to 167,511 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Monday morning, with 86,434 outside China.

Current status (data as of 6:30 pm BJT, March 17):

Death toll in Italy from the COVID-19 rises to 2,158 with total number of cases rising to 27,980 as of 10 am BJT on Tuesday.

A total of 16,169 people have been infected with the novel coronavirus, of whom 988 have died, said Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education on Tuesday.  

The number of confirmed cases in Spain has risen to 11,178 on Tuesday BJT, the health ministry confirmed.

South Korea reported 84 new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the country's total infections to 8,320, with the number of deaths at 81.

The number of virus cases in Germany rose to 7588 on Tuesday.

France's national health agency announced 21 more coronavirus deaths and 1,210 new cases of infection in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's total infections to 6,655, with the number of deaths at 148.

The US reported 4,736 cases of coronavirus infections and 93 deaths as of Tuesday.
