The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,547,420 with the global confirmed cases reaching 114,790,824 as of 9:30 am BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 516,475 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 28,717,162.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 11,124,527. The death toll grew to 157,248.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,646,926. The death toll grew to 257,361.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 4,220,291 with 85,458 deaths.

It is followed by UK with 4,200,699 infections and 123,530 deaths, France with 3,843,241 infections and 87,373 deaths, Spain with 3,209,048 cases and 69,879 deaths, Italy with 2,955,434 cases and 98,288 deaths and Turkey with 2,723,316 cases and 28,706 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,462,061 with 70,698 deaths.
