The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,804,877 with the global confirmed cases reaching 128,255,068 as of 5:00 pm BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 550,996 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 30,393,702.
Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 12,658,109. The death toll grew to 317,646.
India has confirmed a total number of infections to 12,149,335. The death toll grew to 162,468.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in France have increased to 4,646,025 with 95,495 deaths.
It is followed by Russia with 4,494,234 infections and 97,219 deaths, UK with 4,355,867 infections and 126,912 deaths, Italy with 3,561,012 cases and 108,879 deaths, Turkey with 3,277,880 cases and 31,385 deaths, and Spain with 3,275,819 cases and 75,305 deaths.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,818,630 with 76,389 deaths.
