The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,182,445 with the global confirmed cases reaching 151,480,046 as of 7:00 pm BJT on Saturday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 7:00 pm BJT, May 1):

The outbreak has now claimed 576,234 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 32,346,286 infections, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 10:00 am BJT on Saturday.

India has confirmed a total of 19,164,969 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 211,853.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 14,659,011 with 403,781 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,677,835 confirmed cases and 104,675 deaths.

Turkey has confirmed 4,820,591 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 40,131.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 108,675 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 4,759,902.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,432,248, with the number of deaths at 127,775, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 4,022,653 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 120,807.

It is followed by Spain with 78,216 deaths from 3,524,077 infections.

Germany has reported 3,409,263 COVID-19 cases and 83,096 deaths from the virus so far.
