The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,464,799 with the global confirmed cases reaching 167,192,282 as of 6:30 pm BJT on Monday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 589,893 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 33,117,920 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 26,752,447 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 303,720.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 16,083,258 with 449,068 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,980,325 confirmed cases and 108,358 deaths.

Turkey has confirmed 5,186,487 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 46,268.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 116,812 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 4,952,412.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,478,391, with the number of deaths at 127,983, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 4,192,183 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 125,225.

Germany has reported 3,658,628 COVID-19 cases and 87,429 deaths from the virus so far.

It is followed by Spain with 79,620 deaths from 3,636,453 infections.
