The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,487,037 with the global confirmed cases reaching 167,878,150 as of 7:00 pm BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by the Coronavirus Resource Center at Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 590,941 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 33,166,511 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 27,157,795 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 311,388.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 16,194,209 with 452,031 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,670,486 confirmed cases and 109,040 deaths.

Turkey has confirmed 5,203,385 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 46,621.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 117,595 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 4,968,421.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,483,177, with the number of deaths at 128,001, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 4,197,892 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 125,501.

Germany has reported 3,663,648 COVID-19 cases and 87,734 deaths from the virus so far.

It is followed by Spain with 79,711 deaths from 3,647,520 infections.
