The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,512,719 with the global confirmed cases reaching 169,021,406 as of 7:00 pm BJT on Friday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 593,293 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 33,218,607 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 27,555,457 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 318,895.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 16,342,162 with 456,674 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,697,081 confirmed cases and 109,327 deaths.

Turkey has confirmed 5,220,549 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 46,970.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 118,386 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 4,986,458.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,489,552, with the number of deaths at 128,020, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 4,205,970 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 125,793.

Germany has reported 3,676,654 COVID-19 cases and 88,192 deaths from the virus so far.

It is followed by Argentina with 76,135 deaths from 3,663,215 infections.
