The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,523,721 with the global confirmed cases reaching 169,497,009 as of 6:00 pm BJT on Saturday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 6:00 pm BJT, May 29):
The outbreak has now claimed 593,963 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 33,240,022 infections.
India has confirmed a total of 27,729,247 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 322,512.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 16,391,930 with 459,045 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.
France has recorded 5,708,351 confirmed cases and 109,452 deaths.
Turkey has confirmed 5,228,322 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 47,134.
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 118,386 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 4,986,458.
The UK'sconfirmed cases have increased to 4,493,582, with the number of deaths at 128,030, according to the JHU virus tracker.
A total of 4,209,707 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 125,919.
It is followed by Argentina with 76,693 deaths from 3,702,422 infections.
Germany has reported 3,684,495 COVID-19 cases and 88,360 deaths from the virus so far.
