The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 3,534,435 with the global confirmed cases reaching 169,986,948 as of 7:00 pm BJT on Sunday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 7:00 pm BJT, May 30):

The outbreak has now claimed 594,306 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 33,251,982 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 27,894,800 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 325,972.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 16,471,600 with 461,057 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,719,877 confirmed cases and 109,518 deaths.

Turkey has confirmed 5,235,978 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 47,271.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 119,130 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 5,005,171.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,496,823, with the number of deaths at 128,037, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 4,213,055 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 126,002.

It is followed by Argentina with 77,108 deaths from 3,732,263 infections.

Germany has reported 3,688,319 COVID-19 cases and 88,414 deaths from the virus so far.
