The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 369,106 with the global confirmed cases reaching 6,057,553 as of 10:30 am BJT on Sunday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

The United States recorded 960 coronavirus deaths on Saturday, bringing its total to 103,758 since the global pandemic began, according to a tally kept by Johns Hopkins University. 

Brazil on Saturday reached 28,834 coronavirus fatalities, authorities said, surpassing hard-hit France and becoming the country with the world's fourth-highest death toll. At the epicenter of South America's coronavirus outbreak, Brazil also saw an increase of 33,274 cases in the past 24 hours -- a new daily record, the Health Ministry said.

Russia confirmed 8,952 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, raising its total number of infections to 396,575, its coronavirus response center said in a statement Saturday. The death toll increased by 181 to 4,555, while 167,469 people have recovered, including 8,212 over the last 24 hours, according to the statement.

Britain is the fourth-hardest hit country after the US, Brazil and Russia, with more than 38,400 coronavirus deaths and 274,000 cases.

Spain reported four new coronavirus deaths in the 24-hour period until midnight Friday, raising the country's death toll to 27,125, said the Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Services on Saturday.

A further 111 COVID-19 patients had died in the past 24 hours in Italy, bringing the country's death toll to 33,340, out of total infection cases of 232,664, according to fresh figures on Saturday.

France on Saturday recorded 57 new COVID-19 deaths, taking the tally to 28,771, while fewer hospitalized patients were registered for the seventh week in a row.

It is followed by Germnay with 8,530 deaths from 183,189 infections, according to a tally by JHU.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in India surpassed 180,000-mark, reaching 181,827 on Sunday, and the death toll stood at 5,185, according to JHU.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Turkey, the hardest-hit country in the Middle East, climbed to 163,103 after 983 new infections were reported, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca tweeted.
