The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 50,794,593 with the global confirmed cases reaching 1,261,510 as of 8:30 am BJT on Tuesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the United States reached a grim milestone of 10 million on Monday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The number of confirmed cases in the African continent has reached 1,881,356, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said on Monday.

Italy registered 25,271 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours, marking a moderate slowdown compared to the 32,616 new cases reported a day earlier, the Health Ministry said Monday.

Turkey's daily COVID-19 patients increased by 2,576 on Monday, raising the total number in the country to 396,831, the Turkish Health Ministry announced.

Iran announced on Monday a record of 10,463 new COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the country to 692,949, official news agency IRNA reported.

Israel's Ministry of Health reported 647 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the total to 319,888.
