The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 1,293,847 with the global confirmed cases reaching 52,753,626 as of 4:25 pm BJT on Friday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 242,430 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 10,554,804.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 8,728,795. The death toll grew to 128,668.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 5,781,582. The death toll grew to 164,281.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in France have increased to 1,915,282 with 42,599 deaths.

It is followed by Russia with 1,865,395 infections and 32,156 deaths, Spain with 1,437,220 infections and 40,461 deaths, United Kingdom with 1,293,715 infections and 51,020 deaths, Argentina with 1,284,519 infections and 34,782 deaths and Colombia with 1,174,012 cases and 33,491 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Italy have increased to 1,066,401 with 43,589 deaths.
