The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 1,361,300 with the global confirmed cases reaching 56,928,739 as of 5:30 pm BJT on Friday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

India's COVID-19 tally surpassed 9 million on Friday, said the federal health ministry. With 45,882 new COVID-19 cases across the country, the tally reached 9,004,365, while the death toll reached 132,162 as 584 more patients died, the official data showed.

Mexico said Thursday its COVID-19 death toll had exceeded 100,000, becoming the world's fourth country to reach the grim milestone after the United States, Brazil and India. Deputy Health Minister Hugo Lopez-Gatell said that today in Mexico they have 100,000 people who have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

The number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany increased by 22,609 in 24 hours, bringing the total to 855,916, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) said on Thursday. The increase is slightly above the previous week's level.Germany is currently in the second half of a month-long partial coronavirus lockdown.

South Korea reported 363 more cases of the COVID-19 on early Friday, raising the total number of infections to 30,017. The daily caseload stayed above 300 for three straight days, growing in triple digits for 13 days, due to the continued small cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province as well as imported cases.

Libya on Thursday reported 541 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total confirmed cases in the country to 76,006, according to the country's National Center for Disease Control.

Mongolia confirmed 37 more COVID-19 cases on Friday, according to the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD). A total of 555 cases have so far been reported nationwide, including 128 locally transmitted cases, according to official data.
