Globally, as of 4:14 pm CEST on Wednesday, there have been 38,002,699 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 1,083,234 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 216,639 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 7,909,035, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 9:24 am BJT on Thursday.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 7,239,389. The death toll grew to 110,586.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 5,140,863. The death toll grew to 151,747.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 1,332,824 with 23,069 deaths.

It is followed by Argentina with 931,967 infections and 24,921 deaths, Colombia with 930,159 infections and 28,306 deaths, Spain with 908,056 cases and 33,413 deaths, Peru with 853,974 cases and 33,419 deaths and Mexico with 830,502 cases and 84,891 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in France have increased to 820,376 with 33,058 deaths.
