The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 217,746 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 7,975,725, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 8:24 am BJT on Friday.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 7,307,097. The death toll grew to 111,266.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 5,169,386. The death toll grew to 152,460.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 1,346,380 with 23,350 deaths.

It is followed by Argentina with 949,063 infections and 25,342 deaths, Colombia with 936,982 infections and 28,457 deaths, Spain with 921,374 cases and 33,553 deaths, Peru with 856,951 cases and 33,512 deaths and France with 850,997 cases and 33,146 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Mexico have increased to 829,396 with 84,898 deaths.
