Globally, as of 10 am BJT on Thursday, there have been 40,665,438 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 1,121,843 deaths, reported the World Health Organization.

The outbreak has now claimed 226,234 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 8,495,171 infections, according to a tally by the 1Point3Acres virus tracker as of 10 am BJT on Thursday.

India has confirmed a total of 7,651,107 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 115,914.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 5,273,954 with 154,837 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

Russia has confirmed 1,438,219 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 24,786.

A total of 1,037,325 people in Argentina have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 27,519.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 34,366 lives in Spain, bringing the total number of infections to 1,005,295.

France has recorded 1,000,369 confirmed cases and 34,075 deaths.

Colombia's confirmed cases have increased to 981,700, with the number of deaths at 29,464, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Peru has reported 874,118 COVID-19 cases and 33,875 deaths from the virus so far.

It is followed by Mexico with 87,415 deaths from 867,559 infections.
