The latest: COVID-19 outbreak worldwide (Updated October 28)

Globally, as of 10:00 am BJT on Wednesday, there have been 43,895,968 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 1,165,455 deaths, reported the World Health Organization.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 226,604 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 8,773,630, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 7,946,429. The death toll grew to 119,502.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 5,439,641. The death toll grew to 157,946.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 1,537,142 with 26,409 deaths.

France has recorded 1,244,218 confirmed cases and 35,581 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 35,298 lives in Spain, bringing the total number of infections to 1,116,738.

A total of 1,116,609 people in Argentina have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 29,730.

Colombia's confirmed cases have increased to 1,033,218, with the number of deaths at 30,565, according to the JHU virus tracker.

The United Kingdom has reported 920,661 COVID-19 cases and 45,455 deaths from the virus so far.

Mexico has reported 895,326 COVID-19 cases and 89,171 deaths from the virus so far.
