Globally, as of 7 pm BJT on Wednesday, there have been 43,540,739 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 1,160,650 deaths, reported the World Health Organization.

The outbreak has now claimed 231,093 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 8,948,396 infections, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 7 pm BJT on Wednesday.

India has confirmed a total of 7,990,322 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 120,010.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 5,439,641 with 157,946 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

Russia has confirmed 1,553,028 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 26,752.

France has recorded 1,244,242 confirmed cases and 35,582 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 35,298 lives in Spain, bringing the total number of infections to 1,116,738.

A total of 1,116,609 people in Argentina have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 29,730.

Colombia's confirmed cases have increased to 1,033,218, with the number of deaths at 30,565, according to the JHU virus tracker.

It is followed by the UK with 45,455 deaths from 920,664 infections.

Mexico has reported 901,268 COVID-19 cases and 89,814 deaths from the virus so far.
