Globally, as of 8 pm BJT on Friday, there have been 44,592,789 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 1,175,553 deaths, reported the World Health Organization.

The outbreak has now claimed 233,197 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 9,124,575 infections, according to a tally by the 1Point3Acres virus tracker as of 8 pm BJT on Friday.

India has confirmed a total of 8,088,851 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 121,090.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 5,494,376 with 158,969 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

Russia has confirmed 1,588,433 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 27,462.

France has recorded 1,327,853 confirmed cases and 36,058 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 35,639 lives in Spain, bringing the total number of infections to 1,160,083.

A total of 1,143,800 people in Argentina have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 30,442.

Colombia's confirmed cases have increased to 1,048,055, with the number of deaths at 30,926, according to the JHU virus tracker.

The UK has reported 968,456 COVID-19 cases and 46,045 deaths from the virus so far.

It is followed by Mexico with 90,773 deaths from 912,811 infections.
