The Philippines COVID-19 cases swell to 1,075, with 68 deaths

Bangkok (People’s Daily) - Philippines Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reportes 272 new COVID-19 cases, the biggest single-day increase so far, to bring the official tally to 1,075. 

“The total now is at 1,075 cases, with 35 recoveries. The death toll rose to 68.” DOH said on Saturday afternoon.

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire island of Luzon under a total lockdown and declared a state of calamity in the Philippines as cases of COVID-19 spiked. The total lockdown in Luzon will be until April 12 and Metro Manila until April 14, but may be extended or ended earlier depending on the situation.
