TOKYO, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday as the market mood was brightened by U.S. shares closing higher overnight, although caution remained about the future outlook for the global economy.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 61.73 points, or 0.26 percent, from Thursday to 23,361.82.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 2.00 points or 0.12 percent, at 1,713.41.
Iron and steel, construction and machinery-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
