Tokyo stocks open lower following Wall Street decline

TOKYO, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Monday after a fall on Wall Street late last week.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average decreased 192.26 points, or 0.81 percent, from Friday to 23,635.72.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 14.96 points, or 0.86 percent, at 1,717.18.

Marine transportation, iron and steel, and nonferrous metal issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
