ANKARA, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish health minister on Saturday reported 2,861 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number in the country to 107,773.

Meanwhile, the deaths from the coronavirus have reached 2,706 after 106 new ones were registered, Fahrettin Koca tweeted.

Turkey conducted a total of 38,308 tests in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests to 868,565, the minister noted.

In addition, 25,582 patients have recovered from the viral respiratory disease, while 1,782 others are still being treated at intensive care units, he said.

Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case on March 11.
