Turkey's daily COVID-19 cases exceed 7,000, 460,916 in total

ANKARA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Turkey reported 7,381 new COVID-19 patients on Tuesday, raising the total number of infections in the country to 460,916, the Turkish Health Ministry announced.

Meanwhile, 161 people died in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 12,672.

A total of 3,678 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total recoveries to 381,569.

The rate of pneumonia in COVID-19 patients is 3.4 percent and the number of seriously ill patients is 4,543.

A total of 162,231 tests were conducted over the past day, with the overall number of tests reaching 17,568,973.

Turkey has reintroduced several restrictions to curb the rapid rise of coronavirus cases, including a partial curfew from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. imposed nationwide on weekends. Schools will remain closed till the end of the year, with students switching to online education.

Turkey reported the first COVID-19 case on March 11.
