BEIRUT, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- The British embassy in Lebanon called on Lebanese officials on Thursday to meet the protesters' demands by implementing quick and necessary reforms. 

"Necessary reform measures must be implemented quickly. This is an important moment for Lebanon and the Lebanese who have legitimately expressed their anger," the embassy said in a statement quoted by local news agency Lebanon 24.

The statement added that the United Kingdom will continue to support Lebanon's stability, security and prosperity, and a better economy which provides education for all and other proper services to its citizens. 

The Lebanese have been holding nationwide demonstrations for over a week against the government's policies to impose new taxes and the lack of basic services, while calling for a complete political change.
